We see everything tied up in a carrier bag and a recent study has indicated that the use of plastic bags has increased between 2011 and 2012 to such a degree that the government is now considering a levy on the use.
Not so long ago, the supermarkets attempted to cut down the use of carrier bags by charging their customers but for some reason it didn’t stick. But we think it’s just as easy to take a stronger bag to the shop, one you can use again and again?
Use Green Products
Manufacturer’s awareness is also increasing with more products being produced to make them 100% recyclable. If you take Hot water cylinders as an example; only a few years ago they were insulated with fibre and toxic sprays but now you can purchase cylinders that are fully recyclable.
Clothes
The madness is that there are hundreds of kids without clothes and there are hundreds of charity shops whom are willing to accept clothes. Yet, we still see jeans, shirts and shoes dumped in the bins and skips we collect.
Batteries
In a world where we have re-chargeable batteries it seems silly that we use products with such a short lifespan. Even Aldi can dispose of old batteries!
Food recycling
We know we can make compost here, right? Albeit a lot effort is needed and some people (garden centres) will tell you that it’s not a quality product but it can still be done!
We’re not just a local skip hire company we’re also a recycling centre and cover the Wirral and Ellesmere port.
