Fly Tipping – The Facts
It’s illegal – plain and simple. Although it is illegal it still stands as big business for those willing to run the risk of breaking the law. When you choose a waste removal company ensure that they’re going to dispose of your waste both legally and responsibly.
The average fine for fly tipping in 2010-11 was £6,490. Penalties aren’t limited to fines either – you could be sent to prison, given a curfew, or even disqualified from driving.
Across England the clear up of fly tipping reached £41.3 million!
Of the 2,400 prosecutions brought in 2010-11, 96% had a successful outcome.
Worryingly, 63% of fly tipping included household waste – some of which could have been recycled
